To be at peace, safe and calm ..
Last night I spent the evening at the incredible Luna Hut Sauna on Worthing seafront. Sitting in the burning heat of the sauna, watching the rain pound down outside, and then plunging into the freezing cold of the ice-baths might not be everyone’s idea of a relaxing Sunday evening but to me it was a moment of calm. An hour of me-time, to put aside the responsibilities and challenges of the week and just sit and relish the peace, the safe and the calm.
I am going try to take that peace, safe and calm feeling into not just this week for Mental Health Awareness Week, but into every week. To be grateful for the small moments of calm as they happen and for the little glimmers of wonderfulness in our every day lives, and I urge others to try to do the same.
Having good mental health means different things for everyone, for some it might be finding the strength to get out of bed and face the day, or it might be trying to find ways to juggle family or to care for loved ones; it could be fighting loneliness or self criticism or simply working on staying mentally strong to accomplish new work challenges – but whatever it is these different challenges can be equally as tough and all need the utmost care and respect, as we all do as individuals. Mental Health issues have been rising amongst our society so it’s vital we take time out for ourselves.
So at the start of this brand new, shiny week, why not carve a little time out for yourself, to stay strong & calm if you can, be at peace and look for small glimmers 🧡
